Low Mood & Depression

Hypnotherapy for Depression & Low Mood

When everything feels heavy and flat, support can help you feel like yourself again. Hypnotherapy gently lifts low mood and helps you reconnect with motivation, energy and hope.

A gentle, hopeful moment — support for low mood and depression

Do you feel low, flat, or like the colour has drained out of everyday life? Perhaps you’re exhausted, unmotivated, or struggling to enjoy things that once felt easy. Low mood and depression can make even small tasks feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to stay stuck there.

Hypnotherapy for depression offers a warm, supportive way to quieten the inner critic, interrupt negative thinking and gently rebuild a sense of motivation and self-worth. At Transformative Mind Practice, every session is tailored to you and the pace that feels right.

Why low mood happens

Low mood and depression can build slowly or arrive after a difficult life event — loss, stress, burnout, change, or simply months of running on empty. Over time, the mind can settle into patterns of negative thinking, self-criticism and withdrawal that keep the low mood in place.

Common signs include persistent sadness, tiredness and low energy, loss of interest or pleasure, poor sleep or sleeping too much, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and feelings of guilt or hopelessness. These patterns are not a personal failing — they are something we can gently work with and change.

How hypnotherapy helps with depression

Hypnotherapy guides you into a deeply relaxed, focused state where the conscious mind can rest and the subconscious becomes more open to positive change. This is where habits, beliefs and emotional patterns are held — and where lasting shifts begin.

Using a solution-focused approach, we look forward rather than dwelling on the past, building small, realistic steps towards how you want to feel. You remain fully aware and in control throughout.

Together, we can work to:

  • Quieten negative thoughts and the inner critic
  • Rebuild motivation, energy and a sense of purpose
  • Reconnect with the activities and people that lift you
  • Improve sleep, focus and daily routine
  • Strengthen self-worth and emotional resilience
  • Create a calmer, more hopeful outlook

What to expect in a session

Your journey begins with a free discovery call or initial consultation, where we talk through how you’ve been feeling, what you’d like to change and how hypnotherapy can help. It’s a relaxed, judgement-free conversation.

Each session lasts approximately 55 minutes and is available online or in person. We begin with a supportive, solution-focused conversation before moving into gentle guided hypnosis. Many people begin to notice small lifts within a few sessions.

Important to know

Hypnotherapy can be a wonderful support for low mood, and it often works alongside other forms of care. If you are experiencing severe or persistent depression, or thoughts of harming yourself, please also speak with your GP or a qualified healthcare professional. Hypnotherapy complements medical care — it does not replace it.

Common questions

Find answers below

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a gentle, evidence-based approach that uses a relaxed, focused state of awareness to help you access the subconscious mind. In this state, you remain fully in control and aware — it's nothing like stage hypnosis. Think of it as a deeply relaxed conversation with the part of your mind where habits, emotions and patterns are stored, making it easier to create meaningful, lasting change.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy focuses on thoughts, feelings and patterns through conscious conversation. Combined with hypnotherapy, it helps you understand what's happening and create change at a deeper level.

What does a session feel like?

Most people describe sessions as deeply relaxing and surprisingly natural. You won't be “put to sleep” or lose awareness — you'll simply feel calm and focused. Many clients leave feeling lighter and more at ease than they expected.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies from person to person depending on your goals and circumstances. Some people notice significant shifts in as few as 3–6 sessions, while others prefer longer-term support. We'll discuss this together and review your progress as we go.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Absolutely. Hypnotherapy is a safe, gentle and well-established therapeutic approach. You are always in full control throughout the session — nothing can be suggested or done without your awareness or consent.
